This dish was unlocked by leveling up five times in Mafia Wars, meaning you would have to have a minimum of level 15. It was officially added 20th March 2010, and removed later the same day. It had been seen for a while before that, because of some glitches in the game. It was could be seen when helping a friend and also as a gift before it was introduced as a dish. The dish was returned to the menu, without the Mafia Wars restrictions on 30th March 2010. The unlocking level was moved from level 4 to level 24.
There were a lot of things that were wrong with this dish. As an example, some people unlocked this dish after 30 minutes, without leveling up five times in Mafia Wars. The first and the second preperation steps look excatly the same, but they are two different actions. Then, when Zynga chose to remove this dish, it did not disappear for some people.
History[]
When this dish was introduced, Zynga sent a message to everyone who is a Café World-fan. This message was removed just a few minutes later. There was no other message regarding the Tom Yum Goong dish. Here is the release message:
Hiya chefs! Tempt your taste buds with a hot and sour traditional dish from Thailand! There’s only one way to unlock this exotic treat – head off to Mafia Wars! Level up on your way to Bangkok, and you’ll be cooking Tom Yum Goong before you know it! It’s the first 4-day dish ever!
Before it was unlocked, the picture in the cookbook looked a bit different (see picture to the right). You could also click on it, which showed you a bit more information about how to unlock this dish. To unlock this dish you had to level up five times in Mafia Wars. You also had to be minimum level 15. So, if you were level 200, you had to take level 205 before this dish was unlocked.
This dish was removed later in the same day for most people. For some it's still there. Why it was removed is unknown. Some say it was because of the complaints about Mafia Wars.
